3rd Grade Music Concert Thursday November 16th @ 6pm Location: WB Gymnasium 4th Grade Music Concert Thursday February 8th @ 6pm Location: WB Gymnasium 1st/2nd Grade Music Concert Thursday March 22nd "Night of the Arts" Each class will be assigned a 30 min slot between 5:30-7:30pm Location: WB Library At Waverly Belmont Elementary, we offer a variety of after school clubs for K-4th grade students. Of the many we have, there are 3 Music related clubs geared for instrumentalists and actors and singers. The first club is Ukulele Club which is for students in 2nd-4th grade. In the Ukulele Club, students will bring home their own Ukulele and learn how to properly maintain their instrument, learn chords and songs, learn strumming patterns, and learn about the history of the Ukulele. There is an informal recital at the end of the semester to celebrate all of our learning. The Beginner group will be on Mondays from 3-4pm starting September 11th. The Intermediate group (for students who took Ukulele last year or previous private lessons) will meet on Thursdays from 3-4pm starting September 7th. Registration forms are below and are due by September 1st to Mrs. Walle.
The second club is Acting UP which is a musical theater program designed for elementary school students grades 1-4. Our mission is to provide children with a creative outlet, prepare youth for real life performance experiences, and produce quality musical theater experiences. Although Acting UP is an outside company, I will be working along with the staff and students everyday as the Music Director. Acting UP will meet on Tuesdays from 3-4:30pm, and will add Wednesdays to each week starting January. *In order to register for Acting UP, there is a mandatory audition that will take place on Tuesday August 29th from 3-5:15pm in the WB Music Room. Please fill out Audition forms and return it to Mrs. Walle by Friday August 25th.
The third club is ROCKSTAR which is run by an outside company where students will learn to play a rock band instrument in a group. Students K-4 are invited! For more information, go to https://www.waverlybelmontpto.org/after-school-clubs/
Welcome back students and families! Hope you all had a wonderful summer with your friends and families! I had an exciting summer traveling to NYC, LA, San Diego, Michigan (Traverse City) and also enjoyed lots of time being home here in Nashville where I could often be found playing on my ukulele. :) Thank you for those who stopped by to say hello on our Roster Reveal night last Thursday. If you missed it, no worries-- there is an Open House this upcoming Thursday 8/10 at 6pm for K-1 and 7pm for 2-4th grade families. I will be in my room so please feel free to stop by and say hello! In the meantime, here is a little tour of our WB Music Room: Our students' Music Creation Oasis. I will be doing my best to post important dates and information regarding your child's music classes and music related school events (ie: field trips, concerts, clubs) so you have all the necessary information. Your student will also have access to many resources on this website that will allow her/him to review and practice materials learned in class. If there are any questions, please feel free to email me anytime at [email protected] Have a great school year! -Mrs. Walle

The 1st and 2nd grade students will have an opportunity to perform for friends and family in the evening of Thursday March 30th at the “Night of the Arts” event. The Night of the Arts is a combination of the art fundraiser event in the gymnasium and 1st and 2nd grade Music concerts in the library. The concert will showcase the students’ talents and musical skills with a theme of music from around the world. Please refrain from jeans, sweats, or athletic attire. How can my student practice for the concert? Students can practice at home by using the school Music website: http://musicwithmrswalle.weebly.com --> 1st Grade link or 2nd Grade link Are cameras and videos allowed? Yes! It is important that every child makes their best effort to attend this concert. Every voice is important to make this concert a success! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments or concerns at [email protected] . Thank you! Musically Yours, Alice Asako Walle Waverly Belmont Music Teacher
For the 4th Graders, Music class this week was a field trip to the Nashville Symphony for their "Dances through the Centuries" program. Prior to the field trip, the 4th graders had a special assembly with the symphony's french horn player, Patrick Walle (yes, my husband!) and learn more about the orchestra and ask questions. This was a great opportunity for students to build excitement and learn more about what to look for in the beautiful Schermerhorn Symphony Center located in downtown Nashville.
The symphony concert included dance music spanning 200 years from all different cultures. In addition to the beautiful music, the students were mesmerized by professional dancers who really showcased the unique style of each piece. Thank you Nashville Symphony for a wonderful and memorable music field trip!! |
